Baseboard Installation in Edmonton

The trim that finishes the floor — fitted, mitred and filled properly.

Vinyl plank flooring and white baseboards installed in a residential living room

Baseboards are what make a new floor look finished rather than merely installed. We fit them as part of the same project, so the trim matches the flooring and there is one crew accountable for how the two meet.

Why the floor needs it

Vinyl plank and most resilient flooring is installed floating, which means it needs a gap at the perimeter to expand and contract as the room changes temperature. That gap is deliberate and it has to be there — the baseboard is what covers it. Skipping the trim, or refitting it badly, leaves the one detail everyone notices at the edge of an otherwise clean floor.

Profiles and materials

Baseboard comes in a range of heights and profiles, in MDF, primed pine and solid wood. Taller trim reads as more contemporary and hides more of the perimeter gap; simpler profiles collect less dust. The right choice depends on the age of the house, the height of the ceilings and what the rest of the trim already looks like, so we go through it with you on site.

The details that show

Outside corners are mitred and inside corners coped, because a coped joint stays tight when the house moves and a mitred inside corner tends to open up. Nail holes get filled and joints caulked so the run reads as one continuous line. This is the part of the job where a rushed install becomes obvious from across the room.

Booked with your flooring

Baseboards go on after the flooring is down, so the two jobs belong on one schedule. Booking them together means the trim is cut to the finished floor height rather than guessed at, and you are not coordinating two trades around each other.
